The story of “Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana” revolves around two people, i.e. Aarti Shukla (Kriti Kharbanda), an educated girl from Kanpur, who falls in love with her arranged match Satyendra (Rajkummar Rao). But the love story takes a drastic turn when Aarti runs away on her wedding day in the fear of ending up as a housewife. Aarti gave up her love for Satyendra and choose her career and independence.

Satyendra who was left with rejection and heartbreak turn this humiliation into a feeling of revenge. Directed by Ratnaa Sinha throw light on social issues like dowry, bribe, and gender equality. This romantic drama is inspired by Jane Austen’s novel names ‘Persuasion’. In terms of acting skills, Rajkummar Rao has tried his best to salvage the situation, humanizing Satyendar for the most part. But even he couldn’t keep the audience stick to the truly farcical parts of this film.
