Optimizely is a terrific, innovative service. But their pricing is outrageous. They regularly overbill customers by thousands of dollars (if you go over your usage quota). They recently raised their prices dramatically. They decided they don't want individual websites and instead are going after huge enterprise sales. You can't justify a $1 billion valuation with $199/month sales, I guess. I think they want more than $3000/month just for our 5 million pageviews. I switched to SplitOptimizer. It's not nearly as fancy as Optimizely, but it works perfectly. It's less than 1/10th the cost.

Cool place to impress, NO permanent stats team to produce the real goods! If these reviews are really about architecture, yes, nice, but I wouldn't call this a San Francisco landmark, if not for exemplifying the worst of SF/Silicon Valley VC/start-up mentality: putting up a trendy show to make much of mediocre technology and a service that others, in different and cheaper locations most likely can provide at higher quality and lower cost. Is anyone able to look beyond the surface? Apparently not the millennials and those fascinated with their irresponsible youth and easy money. But I did my homework when thinking about website optimization and which companies offer that. Shouldn't anyone with some sense be suspicious of a company splurging on a fancy facade that apparently doesn't want to allocate money for a team of technical experts (statisticians) to drive their technology (A/B testing)? The only statisticians they have had are a couple of poor PhD students borrowed from academia who don't seem to stay on once they graduate (perhaps the image-conscious, know-it-all CTO Pete Koomen, who probably had one basic course in statistics in his life, is a bit too much to bear). Well, I am definitely going with one of the many other A/B testing companies out there! Bye, crazy San Francisco. PS Beware: you'll get plenty of marketing from them, they are good at that (lots of Salesforce people hired apparently), but do your homework and compare with the methodology that competitors are offering (with guidance from an expert, you can consult with someone who has a degree in statistics from a good university and is a member of the American Statistical Association). And should you still decide to meet them, indeed ask to talk to the members of the statistics team (they may get a permanent one by then!) and let them tell you about their qualifications and how long they have been working there full-time as statisticians (you can then go and check that). Shouldn't be a bad idea to meet the "surgeons doing surgery" on you, no?

We used Optimizely for our startup for almost a year. Optimizely's service is terrible and we switched to VWO. It is WAY better, for less! I would recommend switching to VWO to anyone.

I use Optimizely and I totally recommend this tool for A/B testing. They have a sophisticated platform and it is clear that a proficient team of qualified developers is behind this awesome tool.
