Company Description

I attend the Aveda Institute here in Tallahassee and its my best experience ever. I would have to say its all because of the Experienced Educators! I’ve been through many different educators since I’ve started in the Intro Phase and all the way up until my A-2 phase which is where I am now, I’m still learning more and experimenting more each day.

I've been going to Aveda for several years. They use superior products and the stylists are enthusiastic. I give major kudos to both Tanner & Carrie for their outstanding service as educators. They always go above and beyond to make sure you're pleased with the services. I haven't been to Aveda in nearly a year. Last few times the reservations got switched up to include 1)no appointment for me, after driving an hour there, 2) I requested a senior student and wasn't assigned one. Typically the services are good, and the instructors are wonderful. I do get concerned about the goofing around among the students however. Aveda will have to win me back when they revise their reservation issues.

I've gotten haircuts here about 4 times. The price is much lower than you would typically pay for a high quality, personalized haircut. (A trained professional cutting your hair to your exact specifications, or even creating a new style, can be around ~$50. At Aveda, expect to pay ~$20.) The students are all really knowledgeable, and always ask questions and check in with their instructors when they need help. If you're ever unsure about a choice your stylist is making, you can always speak up, and even ask for help from their instructor. I've personally never had a bad experience here, and always communicated with my stylist on exactly what I wanted, and how their expertise could make my idea better. If you're looking for a haircut that you wouldn't typically find at a chain hair styling place, definitely come here. They can do professional looks, punk haircuts, hipster styles, etc. And they WON'T try to steer you away from a daring hairstyle. I've had shaved hair, a pixie, a bob, and I'm now rocking a mohawk. I'm very glad that I was able to go to Aveda to get their opinion & stylish cut.

I went for highlights (partial foil). They started charging me the double of what the services menu says but I thought “ok, is still not todo expensive”. When the student finished I saw one part of the hair and was ok, but I started moving my hair and I realized that I had pretty thick lines on my hair, like stripes on a really bad color. I had to go to other salon and spend again a lot of money to fix this disaster. I just wanna cry 😢. Very bad experience. Also I spent more than 3 hours there.

TERRIBLE 😓 I went in for a balayage & showed them a picture . I requested for a master student to prevent having a disaster .. but I payed more for no reason . The teacher didn’t even know what she was doing herself!! I asked them to fix it because I was unhappy and the teacher took the most unprofessional way to make my NOW ombré hair look similar to a balayage ... my hair color began under my ears . And she brought the color up after they dried my hair , with a brush . My hair texture feels DEAD now and there are streaks of uneven color on my beautiful hair that I have grown out for YEARS!!! I still seemed unhappy & she tried to manipulate me into feeling like I didn’t know what I wanted .. I mean who is the professional me or her?? She kept saying “What do you want”? Like if I had studied aveda before ... I just want some thing similar to the picture!!!!! The student that was taking care of me Didn’t really care about customer service .. & what is sad is she graduates in a week 😳. She kept leaving to ask her teacher questions, which was a bad idea because I may not know much about hair color BUT , I do know bleach lightens more the longer it stays on! And this girl would to 2 foils and leave to look for her teacher for 20 minuets then came back did another 2 left and continued to do this . I can’t believe people pay to go to a school who doesn’t even teach them correctly!!!!! I am a few days away from my birthday and now my hair looks a disaster 😭😭😭😢 . After being there for 7 hours I just acted like I was content with my hair because the teacher kept telling the student “Let me help you because you haven’t taken your lunch” . Which made me feel unwanted . Also the students telling each other (while doing my hair) “We don’t like clients we stay in the back and just study , no clients for us please” . 😓 also I asked for a haircut and the didn’t even do anything!!! My hair looks the same 😑😑😑 I am so upset!! Money and time went to the trash I have literally cried for a week! Because I have to wear my heavy hair in a bun or pony tail to cover up the horrible job ☹️

You get what you pay for is so true and I would rather pay triple the cost than go through this horrible experience again. I arrived at my appt on time but had to wait 35 minutes. Then when I tell the girl I want highlights, they say there is not time to do them! Really? They only have time for a root touch up. I decide to kust do that and ask for an eyebrow wax while I process for 45 minutes. The girl then says she doesnt knkw how to do them and basically no one there does. This place is a joke. Then I hear the stylist next to me say she can do a wax for her client. And she qas doing a shoulder massage for her client that I did not get. This place sucks so dont waste your time. You will be disappointed to say the least.

I love the Aveda institute! I went on my birthday to get my hair cut to my shoulder(it ended up being 17 inches off). My hair looks so good and the cut was done very cleanly. My hair dresser asked many questions and did exactly what I wanted!

In this Place☆ Students will use you as a MARUTA when you visit here. It is Cheap but you can understand "why it is cheap" after you get hair cut. Also, you can see why so many people left 1star. I include my hair cut photo from hear!

Had an absolutely stellar experience here! Came in because I'd had a really bad experience at a DIFFERENT school which tried to lighten my hair without the necessary products and didn't tell me. But AVEDA went to work on my hair, made sure I was happy, kept the price low, and kept my hair healthy. I would DEFINITELY go back for anything. Friendly, professional, clean, and comfortable.
