Cooks & Soldiers draws its inspiration from the people and the cuisine of the Basque Country in Spain and France. The Spanish call it Pais Vasco; the Basque say Euskal Herria. Regardless of nomenclature, it stands for thousands of years of fierce independence, cultural autonomy, and unrivaled cuisine.

Cooks and Soldiers has become one of my favorite restaurants downtown. Everything is good... you can’t go wrong with the Barbakoa! Great place for a date or special occasion that won’t break the bank.
It’s the only tapas place I can stand, and I always love the meal. The portions are actually decent, and if you’re honest with your server about wanting “bang for your buck” to fill your calorie needs, they won’t steer you wrong.
Excellent food and service. Especially loved the Rabbit Porchetta. We left an item in the seat and rather that holding onto it at the front desk like most places a host ran a couple of blocks to return it to us as we'd not realized our mistake yet

First time here last Thursday after a recommendation. This was a wonderful restaurant, top notch food and service. Our server Doug was terrific as well as cara the manager when she stopped by. Some highlights was the beef barbakoa, trout and pork belly...all so different but delicious. Dessert was squash tart and equally great. Thanks again to the chef and Mr C for a great night
Sous chef Vladimir was friendly and personable. The food was amazing and the drinks were strong! Worth every penny! I'd eat anywhere this man cooked.
Really really enjoyed this place. The staff was knowledgeable and on point. The cocktails were inventive and the wine paired expertly. And the food. Oh the food. We barely got into the menu and left fully sated. Awesome.
It’s no secret this place is really good. No matter your typical style. Food, drink, and service are all really impressive. Menu had enough options to please most palates so it’s a perfect place to bring guests to. One of the best tapas places I’ve been to. Period.
A beautiful, modern, soaring dining room is the setting for a thoroughly modern feast. The food is creative, unexpected, creamy, inventive and spectacular. Wait staff is quiet but right there.
