Company Description

The Longbranch area of North Georgia (the end of 400) has long been known for its independent people. Stan Gabriel, one of the owners of Sunny Farms, looks like he just finished taking part in a rodeo. This 200 plus pound, barrel chested man looks like a steer wrestler.

My husband and I have only ridden a horse once before. So we are beginners and the horses were very easy to ride and manage. The staff was friendly and paired us with the best horse for us. The path was fun and adventurous through forested mountains. We went with a group and even kids were able to keep up with ease. These horses know what their doing so all we had to do was enjoy the ride. Definitely want to go again.

I loved the horses and the beautiful trail. My group and I have a fantastic time, however the owner runs a bad business. I understand if an old school company doesn't want to use computers or card readers, but if you take cash only please have change to give back to your customers. Group prices was 36$ a person, my girlfriend and I both paid 40$ each and expected 4$ back respectively. But when we brought it up to the stable master (whom wasn't a very nice man) he blamed our group for shorting him! Rather than sucking it up, to keep good customer relations and taking an 8$ hit , he'd rather argue and blame my friends for shorting him. He keeps no records of transactions and even admitted to forgetting payments. He told us to have 1 member of our group collect all the funds so he didn't have to remember who paid. It's called a pen and paper, write records of your transactions and maybe you'd see that you owe people change. Again, we had a wonderful time with the horses and trail. But the stable master was rude and had no clue how to run a business.

Our group went yesterday and had a fantastic experience! The trail was beautiful and the horses were so sweet. Stan and his family/employees made it so much fun but also did a great job making sure everyone was comfortable and knowledgeable about the horse they were riding. I highly recommend them and will be back again!!

Be careful if you bring young or inexperienced/scared riders. Horses all appeared well trained and knew the trail. The trail has a bit of a sketchy start where a lot of horses slipped getting up past a rocky point & you do walk right next to a ledge for a bit. I imagine with the mountains in full leaves/blooming this ride would be really pretty. Towards the end the horses like to pick up pace on the flat ground and although we found it exhilarating; the ~10 year old in the group in front of us screamed in terror. Which forced all of us behind to constantly pull our horses up so hers wouldn't take off. They do need to CHECK all of their equipment more often. We went on a weekend with a few other groups & on our ride alone two people from different groups fell off because of saddles slipping. One was a child who was riding for the first time and thankfully was wearing a helmet. The other was an adult male who jumped clear as it was slipping off. Another gentleman's rein broke and he had to get off as the horse kept trying to pass others and he had no control. They tell you to walk the horse the entire way if you fall off, as this is a guideless ride, but if they're sending out inexperienced people they need to make sure their equipment is properly fitted/in good shape. This is a family run business and they appear to take good care of the horses. Letting them take their rest even when rides run behind (ours ran an hour behind our scheduled time). It was definitely better & cheaper than the "farm rides" that kids get bored doing. I just worry that this place would get sued into oblivion if they don't get some good practices in place.

Best trail riding experience I've ever had! You can even go without a guide if you have enough riding experience. Has a beautiful trail that winds through the mountains.

Thoroughly enjoyed the trail riding adventure with Sunny Farms North. I was looking for a self guided riding experience and this was the place. By self guided I mean you ride the trails just you and the horse. I also appreciated the matter of fact atmosphere and simple straight forward instruction from salt of the earth Stan and off you go. Our price was $40 per rider and the trail was rugged and exciting. There were two small water crossings and some nice flat land toward the end of the loop. A big thank you to Stan and his crew. Also to Hickory, Molly and Peanut our faithful steeds. If you would like a ride without being babysat and are up for some more challenging terrain you should be happy with this stables.
