Company Description

The Porter Beer Bar opened in September 2008, fulfilling a long-time dream of owners Molly Gunn and Nick Rutherford. Engaged at the time of The Porter’s opening and married in October 2008, the couple met at Seeger’s, the now-defunct five-star restaurant in Buckhead.

The Porter offers a calm tavern vibe with low lighting, a huge beer menu, and tasty snacks that pair well together. Our server was attentive, friendly, and offered great advice on the variety of beers I wanted to have and helped me make my decision on a delicious coconut stout. I highly recommend the fries which came with the tastiest onion dipping sauce (pictured below). I also appreciated that they were able to accommodate my friend’s vegetarian diet and bring us the Mac and cheese without bacon. This pub is a great little place to stop by for a snack and drink in Little Five Points.

My favorite spot in Atlanta! Their popcorn ... every time I go I’m shocked by the deliciousness of their food. Servers are always really happy and pleasant.

The staff is very well informed on their beer selection. Best selection in the area IMO esp. For European and more select brews. Great and diverse menu

The bar feels European. Narrow halls of brick, storage up to the ceiling, dark lighting, knowledgeable staff that knows how to leave you the the heck alone to enjoy your drink, and unique shaped glasses giving respect to each drink ordered. The Porter Beer Bar has got one the best beer selections I've seen in Atlanta. The service is awesome. The menu is a tome, a giant clipboard double-sided with drinks and quick reviews. And the metal and classic punk music doesn't hurt either. Didn't eat here but it smells amazing. They even had a super rare whiskey I've been looking to try. Outstanding!

Their mussels were a fantastic appetizer. I've never seen such an extensive beer menu. I got one of their burgers, it was cooked perfectly, and tasted great. The lighting is a bit dim, but that was not a bad thing; it definitely added to the ambiance. I would definitely go here again!

It's a true bar that focuses on drinks. They have food but not a lot and not really that good. If you eat before you go, then you should enjoy it because they have an extensive drink menu. Then if you're drunk enough, you can probably order some food

The Porter is an eclectic little bar with a serious knack for bar food. From the feta cheese sticks to the pork belly steam buns, the food here packs some serious power. This bar also has an absolutely amazing beer list, and their cocktails are also pretty good. The staff here are also great and super friendly. Leo, our waitress was so sweet and nice and sets the bar to a new level for great staff. The price is on point with other high end gastro bars.

PROS: great drinking menu- huge, including cider options. Cozy and interesting atmosphere. Food menu was fun and had vegetarian options.CONS: the booth wasn't cleaned properly, leaving a large smear of BBQ sauce on my friend's pants as she slid in. Really not cool.In general, this place reminded me of a London pub, from the food and drink menus to the decor- but not in the way like it was trying to be that. This place has it's own personality and charm. I'd definitely go back- just now I always check the seats before I sit down.

Food was exceptional. Very friendly and helpful staff AND other guests of the place. Had a very nice Saturday mid-day meal here. If you are in Atlanta, you must visit.

The Porter is one of my favorite beer spots in Atlanta! They have a massive beer list and all of their servers are very knowledgeable. I had the shrimp and grits for the first time tonight and can't wait to go back and get more! The owner is so sweet and kind to her customers to the point where you can tell that this restaurant is a place of comfort.
