My 10 year old daughter is a signed SAG actress with one of the Big 5 agencies as well as two other agencies. Her artist development team is comprised of some of the biggest names in the music business and they wanted her to take eight vocal lessons per month with a certified Seth Riggs instructor in preparation for her musical debut later this year - she will be the youngest female solo artist to debut on a major label in the history of the music business. She is working with the Producer for Selena Gomez/Katy Perry/Miley Cyrus to give you an idea how big this is and how important a vocal coach is for our needs. We interviewed all the top vocal coaches and what we found was the typical bloated egos who overcharge and under deliver, or worse yet, coaches who weren't even singers themselves; or worse yet, coaches without proper certification. Folks, regardless of what you have been told, it absolutely IS NOT synonymous to charge exorbitant rates and care about your students, period!! If the vocal coach loves what they are doing and truly wants to help you, then they will charge fair rates, and if they don't, run, don't walk, the other direction. Also, in LA everyone is a vocal coach, just like everyone is a photographer. People, don't buy into that cr*p!!! Check their credentials, check their schooling, check everything before you hire a vocal coach or you won't see the results you are hoping for, or worse yet, a vocal coach without proper certification can actually damage your voice. If you want to look for a vocal coach and go through all of the time, trouble and disappointment that I went through that's your business. However, let me save you the hassle, and $$$.....I have checked most all of them out, and rest assured, to my knowledge, there is no better place to get vocal lessons than "The Singing Place." We chose to go with Kathleen, whom my daughter has grown to love, not only because of her knowledge and professionalism but because of her compassion and caring attitude (nurturing) which is extremely beneficial for any student. However, I hear that the other instructors are also great, so check them out too. And, one final thought...my daughter's NY music representatives who are involved in the careers of Beyoncé, Adele and John Legend, monitor her vocal progress weekly via video. And, from their lips...."We are very fortunate to have found Kathleen and The Singing Place." You can't get better confirmation than that! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
