At the age of 18, Toshi Kasahara, a wrestler from a rural farming town in Japan, immigrated to America to wrestle for Portland State University. After finishing college and taking on short cooking stints at a few Japanese restaurants, Toshi moved to Seattle with hopes of opening his own shop.

The best teriyaki I've had in recent memory-- to be expected of the main Toshi's location! Wonderfully moist and tasty chicken teriyaki with just a little bit of searing that adds an additional crisp and smokey flavor. The restaurant itself is certainly no frills, but I find that charming and authentic in teriyaki joints!
Ridiculously good teriyaki! I personally enjoy the steak. Friendly couple works at this location. Very very small space and can often get really busy. Often best for take-out, although I find myself slowing down and enjoying time here between spring and fall months.
This is our go to teriyaki place. The owner is kind, and remembers your face. The food is delicious, and fast. The menu isn't huge, but the portions are. My friend claims they have the best egg rolls she's ever had. When I had a big party, I just ordered food from here and we still had leftovers, because the portions were so big.

I have never actually physically been to the Toshi's in Mill Creek but I've had their food dozens of times. For those not in the know, this is currently the only Toshi's owned by the original Toshi if that matters. Other Toshi's Teriyaki could be really good, but this one is owned by the namesake. Having lived here for almost my entire life I have had more than my fair share of teriyaki I can say this location does really good teriyaki. I particularly prefer the chicken katsu. The breading is really crispy and the chicken is amazingly moist. The sauce that comes with it is delicious as well - I'm not sure what exactly goes into the katsu sauce but it's not just soy sauce like accompanies the chicken and beef teriyaki. Another good choice is the chicken teriyaki which is amazingly moist as well and grilled to perfection - it's what put Toshi's on the map in the 70s and 80s. I personally do not get the beef teriyaki but if you want to try less prevalent beef teriyaki version with a different cut of beef and a citrus (yuzu?) marinade then it could be a great choice. Everyone has their favorite teriyaki place around here and this one is mine.
Prices are reasonable, the food is good, and the staff nice
Small, no frills teriyaki place. But if you're going to have Teriyaki, might as well go to the best. Toshi hides in the kitchen here and the choices of chicken or beef (and sometimes pork) are both winners!
Absolutely delicious! Best teriyaki I've had. Simple menu is quite nice, almost hidden gem in Mill Creek. Super friendly service and restaurant is clean. Only a few tables so don't plan on bringing the whole family to eat in, take it to go.
Came here to try their food because I was early to a meeting. Not only was the food excellent but the owner is a very friendly welcoming lady. I ordered a main course and got some chicken on the side. As I was leaving I still had the side and asked for s bag. She asked me if I wanted rice with the order. I accepted, as I was reaching for my wallet she says with a smile, “no charge.” Never have I gone to a place where they don’t charge you extra for things. Will always give my money to companies that care more for customer satisfaction than making a little money. I will definitely be back.
