My daughter has been part of Brooklyn Music School for 5 years now, not only taking ballet, private piano and vocal lessons, but also going to the after school program. She loves it there and so do I. The staff is awesome, super accommodating and very in tune with the kids needs, bad or good days. We are big supporters of this long standing establishment and also appreciate how they do thei best to help kids from all families get the opportunity to participate in the different programs offered.

Brooklyn Music School has provided a safe community for my 10 year old son during after school and seasonal camps for 5 years. The teachers, counselors and mentors of BMS have all served to nurture his innate talents and love of the performing arts through private Guitar instruction and the Arts Reaching Youth after school program where he has formed a rock band with fellow students that now perform throughout the city. BMS has become a home away from home for him. Your child will become more than just a face. They will become a part of a very special community that knows their name and welcomes them with a smile whenever they walk through the doors.

This so called "music school" signed a contract with comedian Owen Benjamin. The contract stated that they could cancel up to 24 hours prior to the show. After assuring him that they would not cancel, they canceled 25 hours prior to the show. They did this because of his political views that he shares with half the country. Cancelling 1 hour before the deadline had to have been a planned attach to leave him without a venue for his sold out show. I would not trust this school or the people who run it. Not only is it absolutely reprehensible for a music school to censor art, but it is also extremely dishonest to wait until last minute to cancel the contract.

My daughter has been attending programming and taking lessons at Brooklyn Music School for 2 years now. She's attended private violin lessons, group violin lessons, ballet lessons, spring break camp, winter break camp, and summer camp. To say we live there would not be an overstatement. Brooklyn Music School is a gem of an institution. Their feel is small, caring and community oriented but their impact is monumental. When you walk into Brooklyn Music School your immediately greeted by someone (most likely Rob) and you feel like they've been waiting for just you. They take time to know every little musician's name. The building is old but charming and it's has this element that feels like it's always been filled with musicians and artists. It's seems authentic that there are all these tiny rooms filled with people discovering, learning, and loving music. My daughter started lessons when she was 4 and immediately I saw a difference in her. Usually unfocused and adrift she listened (each lesson more and more). You have the option to drop your child off or stay in the classroom with them, which was nice for our family. The instructors are incredibly patient and transparent. After a season of group lessons her violin teacher recommended private lessons in a room the was free of distractions, she wasn't able to concentrate in the larger group settings. We began lessons with Michael and have continued ever since. He has found incredible ways to connect with my LO. Letting her begin her lessons with playing on her own as a warm up. Giving her encouraging words and also calling her out (loving but stern) when she isn't focused. She's grown so much not only in her violin skills but also in her focus. School has gotten much better and she is able to translate her music lesson to her classroom. Michael is patient and kind and understanding. He is really invested in her success. He is always timely and dependable not once has he been late to or missed a lesson. He treats her like her learning at that moment is the most important and beautiful thing. Camp is as great as the private lessons. My LO even asks to go to camp on the weekends! She learning to read music, about different composers, musical instruments, and elements of The Arts. She now knows more about music than I do. But most important she's happy, usually prone to tantrums and meltdowns we found a place that was patient and gentle. They always communicate if any issues arise. Not to mention camp is extremely affordable. In all it feels good to find a place where you feel your child is cared for, is learning, is able to build a connection with music and their arts and is so entrenched in the community. I highly recommend Brooklyn Music School.

Classes at Brooklyn Music School are amazing. The place has an 'old school' New York Theater/School feel--- old wood, echoing hallways, classic fixtures, etc... The staff and crew are all pleasant, gracious and accommodating, and very knowledgeable. If voice is your thing, no matter if you're a beginner or already at the top of the charts, Dakota Macleod is the one to see. Outstanding professionalism, high expectations, and unparalleled dedication to her students.
