Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream Company began in 1962 when Chuck Sr. and Nancy Deadman decided to open their very own candy and ice cream shop. Their vision was to provide the community with a bit of happiness by serving homemade candy and ice cream. They held the philosophy that quality lies at the heart of every marvelous treat shop, and with this, Chuck Sr., master researcher, tinkerer and perfectionist, set out on a mission of making the best ice cream he could. After countless batches of ice cream, and tweaking and adjusting machinery, he came up with his own original, super-premium ice cream flavors to offer at their shop, located on Monona Drive in Madison, Wisconsin.

Fun ice cream shop. We've been to 2 other locations in Wisconsin. The ice cream is very light and tasty. Lots of flavors to choose from. They change their decoration-theme monthly almost to match that months holidays. The only complain would be, compared to up north locations, these guys have their prices a bit high. We got 2 kid sizes bowls, and 2 one scoop adult bowl, and the total was $20 bucks. Other than that, I would highly recommend visiting this place :)
Fun place to try. Ice cream is good. Atmosphere is fun and different. Cool music playing. Lots of specialty cones and other treats to choose from, but be prepared to pay a premium price for your visit. Not cheap and small portions.
This place is always so yummy! Ice cream flavors are unique, creamy, and full of flavor! The inside is always decorated so cute and with a cool theme! The colors are always awesome and it's so fun to go in here and see what the new theme is and how the shop is decorated. I came here tonight with my sister and we got the Fat Elvis flavor and Peanut Butter Hearts Chocolate flavor ice cream and it did not disappoint. The employees were super friendly to us and handed out plenty of samples for customers to try - samples are always a plus! An employee came around too with cups of ice water for all of the customers. Staff is great here and treats their customers great! Overall we love this place; it is definitely a very unique and tasty ice cream shop that is different than your standard, cookie cutter place. I highly recommend this place to everyone for a tasty treat!
We went here in December with our puppy. The man was amazing and gave our puppy a lot of love. The flavors are awesome! The brownie was one of the best I've had. Check this place out!
Great service! They were friendly and gave us several ice cream samples. The Rocky Road was excellent, but the decorations in the store (left over from Halloween) were even better--really inventive and well done. This is one of the best ice cream shops in Chicago, they do it right.
Love Love Loved it!! Came here from the far south side and I’ve been craving Superman flavor ice cream for weeks. Satisfied my pregnancy craving. Great job with this place! Will definitely be back
This service is unmatched. We always get the flavor with the swear word but it's truly the personalization of the visit that we appreciate. We always sample the treats. Decorations are so intricate and fun, visited for Halloween and I loved it! 10/10 you have to try it!
As usual, ice cream variety and flavor were very good. Prices are fairly steep ($7+ for two scoops in a cup...). Ambience leaves a lot to be desired, too. Not sure what the deal is with the whole zombie theme, especially around the holidays???? And it would be perfectly fine to turn the tunes down a notch; have to shout to order. Can't imagine what it would be like to work there all day...
An ice cream shop with a truly unique atmosphere and fantastic service, oh and the ice cream is pretty good as well :D There is something for everyone here, from traditional flavors to everything-but-the-kitchen-sink, non-dairy options, seasonal flavors, and sorbets. The staff are always offering samples, either of your choosing or just walking around with bite-sized dreamsicle samples in tiny cones. They also pass out cups of water while you enjoy your tasty treat. CASH ONLY.
There are so many different flavor varieties, even a lot of soy options. The inside is a cool fun club like atmosphere. My kids loved it, great spot. The staff was also incredibly friendly and hospitable. Ice cream is on the pricier side but totally worth it, it’s really delicious. Would definitely come back again.
