Maple Grove United Methodist Church is now among the increasing number of United Methodist congregations in central Ohio [and beyond] that work "for full equality in membership, ordination, and marriage for God’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender children." I had learned that Maple Grove UMC had become a Reconciling Congregation [I am not a member of that church] when I had read a notice that that church's Reconciling Ministry Team would be hosting a 5-9-2018 screening of a video, "An Act of Love," that "tells the story of an unwitting advocate in the fight for equal rights within the Church, Rev. Frank Schaefer, who had his [United Methodist Church] ministerial credentials revoked in December 2013 after officiating his son's same-sex wedding and refusing to denounce gay marriage rights." [Rev. Schaefer later had his ministerial credentials reinstated, on an appeal, in June 2014.] Rev. Frank Schaefer had been present for this screening and had responded to questions from those in attendance; it had been clear from the questions and responses that evening that Maple Grove UMC now strives to fully welcome and affirm LGBT people. For those who plan to travel to Maple Grove United Methodist Church, I want to point out that the parking lot and the only available entrance to this church are on the south side of the church [on the north side of Aldrich Rd.]. If you travel to "7 W. Henderson Rd." and then plan to enter the church, you will need to walk around to the south side of the building.

I visited this church and they were very welcoming and friendly to me. They have all kinds of outreach programs helping the local community. Great music. Great sermon. What else could you want?
