Company Description

God began ‘calling’ for Sankofa United Church of Christ to be birthed in 2002. Following much prayer and consultation, that call was ultimately heard and answered by it’s first two organizing pastors: Susan Smith and Derrick Rice in January, 2003. That first year included much additional prayer, consultation and organizing. A national Council of Elders was formed to: advise and provide spiritual cover and guidance in the creation of Sankofa.

If you've never been spiritually fed and mentally revolutionized, you must visit and join the movement! I have and I need to be in service every Sunday, I can't always make it but am there in spirit!! A renewed vision of community and brother/sisterhood here at Sankofa UCC with pastor Derrick Rice.

NOW THIS IS THE WAY CHURCH IS SUPPOSED TO BE!! Today was my families first time coming to Sankofa and I LOVED IT! 😁😁 Pastor Rice preached a REAL message and told the truth about Christmas despite the fact that it's an uncomfortable truth for some people. The part about the enemy sometimes being the inner me hit home. His spirit feels very genuine and I'm glad he took the time to speak to me after service. I will definitely be back.

Everything you would want in a Church, Biblically sound, socially aware, spiritually uplifting, active in the community, welcoming, energetic, respectful of our ancestors, and very relevant for our community.

Sankofa UCC is a church that allows their social justice conscious merge with their spiritual beings. Pastor Derrick Rice preaches and teaches like no other. When you step in the Chapel you feel the Spirit. The choir is phenomenal as well. Please come and join the movement.

I visited this church for the 1st time on 12/4/18 I truly enjoyed the entire program. The church was filled with friendly people and the sermon was filled with widom, and laughter. I love the fact that it's not so traditional. I felt like I was amongst family. I will go again.
