So it began. The search for the perfect name and home started back in April of 2002. We ( Peg & Deb) knew that we wanted to create a warm, cozy and fun place with a 60’s, 70’s vibe to it. A place where people could not only pick up yummy tasting treats to go, but could just hang out as if they were in their own space.

Love this place! Their coffee cake is what I really come for but they are famed for their cupcakes (delish and with vegan options), their puddings are also just heavenly. And they have an excellent rubarb crumble that reminds me of grandma! The staff are always so friendly.
Was looking for ice cream in the area, but I discovered this cute little shop. Love their puddings!!!!
Their chocolate on chocolate vegan cupcake is the best. Miles ahead of their other cupcakes, while they are still good! If you are more of a pudding person my niece is a huge fan of their banana pudding. Great service and kind people!

We ordered 4 cupcakes and 2 cookies through DoorDash and the delivery went really well. Oh surprise when checking the “goods”, seemed made by an angry person. They looked nothing like the pictures, tasted very confused and cookies were store ahoy... nothing special for an individual price and it was so disappointing. When buying online one has the pics and descriptions to decide, they shouldn’t be deceitful and I don’t mean the amount or colour of the sprinkles. I mean the size, taste (rude, nothing refined) and finishing. Why charge so much for so little? So disappointing, buying at a supermarkets would have been more economic and truthful.
I came here on a Friday night, and I got a banana pudding, teaser size. Surprisingly, it was enough! The banana pudding was very dense, full of banana and cake, so it was a lot of food even though the teaser size was quite small. I really enjoyed it! It wasn't super sweet, and the only other place I've had banana pudding in NYC is Magnolia Bakery. Compared to there, this one is less sweet and there's more substance, less pudding. It's great! For $3 including tax for paying in cash, the teaser is a great dessert.
The banana pudding here rivals Magnolia Bakery’s. That’s the treat I’ll keep coming back for. I also like that they have such a variety of pudding flavors for you to try that seem to be seasonal. I did also try a cupcake while there. I found it to be very well executed: moist and not overly sweet. Good icing to cake ratio.
I loved Sugar Sweet Sunshine for their cupcakes and pudding, so when it came time to get a wedding cake, I knew that this would be our spot. Working with Deb and her team was effortless from the start. We visited to sample different flavor combinations and settled on a simple "stucco" design that we'd add flowers as a decoration. We did a two layer cake with a sheet cake to supplement. It was simple and perfect - and delicious. We picked up the cake the day before our wedding, and it was perfectly stored and packaged, making the car trip with us to the venue and was stored in the fridge overnight. I HIGHLY recommend SSS Bakery for any special occasion cake!
