Company Description

Inspired by the literary and architectural history of the Boston Public Library, as well as the City of Boston, we set out to create a tea experience unlike any other. With the Courtyard Tea Room, we offer a classic afternoon tea that has become a tradition for many Boston families. With the Map Room Tea Lounge, we’re offering a tea experience with a twist, serving more modern, a la carte fare and tea-infused cocktails.

Went for the afternoon tea service. It was a lovely experience and I got pretty full quicker than I expected! I wish there were more savory stuff and less of the sweets but I loved how their treats were not overly sweet.

The staff is extremely accommodating and they serve wonderful deserts though when assessing smaller details you need to be direct with the staff.

Enjoyed high tea w family. Nice selection of teas and great amuse-bouche selection. The scones were delicious, the mini sandwiches went beyond the basics and the sweet options were numerous and delicious. They offer a teapot refill as well. We enjoyed our afternoon at the library, perfect on a rainy day! They also offer a champagne option for an extra.$10.

Gorgeous place for an afternoon tea! Definitely pricey, but you're paying for the atmosphere and delicious sandwiches and desserts.

Great tea, ambience, and food. Perfect for afternoon tea and the library is gorgeous, of course. Will go back again. Nice for special events too.

Reserved a sitting for high tea here today for my girlfriend’s birthday. We weren’t told that there were two separate rooms (the tea room and the bar area) and our table was in the bar area; a pretty dark room. The tea and food were great though! Only other comment would be that the bar room needs better air circulation as it was pretty hot in there.

I attended tea at the Library by myself, and it was a wonderful experience. First, I messed up my reservation, but the staff was very nice about it, and managed to seat me anyways. The decor is beautiful, their menu was even presented inside a book, which was charming. My food was delicious, but also a treat for the eyes. I had one of their tea cocktails as well and it was just as good as everything else. The tea I chose was great. They didn't pair the teas ahead of time like some other places I've been. The library itself was a beautiful setting as well. I enjoyed wondering around after tea. Given that it is in downtown Boston, parking can be an issue. I found a hotel about a block away that did all day valet parking for cheaper than any of the garages around, so that's a suggestion. Whether you are by yourself, or with a group, you should have afternoon tea here if you have time!

Great place for a special occasion or having friends over from out of town! This is a place that mimics the high tea event well, with pastries and finger foods provided along with teas and alcoholic drinks of all types. They even gave us free champagne on the house when they learned it was our anniversary. Just be mindful of the cost when coming here, understandably so. Regardless, would definitely visit again.

My husband and I came here for our first anniversary and couldn't have been happier. Everything was perfect! The tea selection was amazing (from MEM Tea Imports!) and the food was phenomenal. Such great flavor combinations in small packages. We did not leave hungry! And the book theme was so, so great. The menus were bookmarks inside an old book!!
