Where does all this hate and anger come from? Where is all this outrage for human lives being destroyed by other human lives around the world everyday. Instead, you attack a company and it's employees that has been responsible for life-saving research because they used primates as test subjects over a decade ago. Every major medical and pharmaceutical company did at one point. That was the norm and it is still legal in many countries, but the responsible companies ended that practice long ago. Imagine the other companies, such as major pharmaceutical companies that still continue this practice today. But no one talks about that, because it's not in today's news cycle. I believe your outrage is based on inadequate education. New York Blood Centers provide a vital service to the communities and world at large for life-saving procedures.

I will never go to this blood center again matter fact I will never donate blood again. I go there to donate blood, the nurse Kelly put the needle into my vein incorrect and the wrong-way which cause my arm to swell and cause me to be in pain. Then Kelly and another nurse tried to blame me for causing my own arm to swell and bruising saying that I moved my right arm which made the needle be out of place, creating pain and issue. I got home and started vomiting. I did eat breakfast before I got there. I'm considered of suing them since I can't move my arm right freely and bend it. My lawyer will contact them for their malpractice. These people need to take responsibility for their actions and be held accountable.

I visited for a White Blood Cell (Mononuclear Cell) Donation, on Wednesday December 20th. I was provided with transportation from Huntington into Manhattan. The procedure took longer than just whole blood but there was a hospital patient in need and I was a match. They made me feel needed, as I know I was. I am a regular platelet donor in Melville and have made just over 50 donations (w/this last one)

This place is grossly incompetent. I researched online to see if I could donate blood since I had gotten a tattoo in Connecticut 7 months earlier and everything online said I could. I told Michael and the supervisor that I had looked on American Red Cross website stating that only 11 states were given a time restriction and they said that they weren't affliated with them and the NYC blood center might have stricter restrictions which is fair. The supervisor was pretty rude about it. Then I pulled up the NYC blood center website while still there and showed Michael the same thing I saw on the Red cross website. He was like you can't believe everything on the internet, maybe it still has to be updated, maybe there wasnt enough space to list all the states blah blah blah. He legit thought New Jersey was the only place regulated. I was incredulous. How can their own website not be up to date?? Do they not train their employees to do their jobs and know their policies? We trust these people to know who can and cannot donate blood yet they can't be bothered to learn the simple criteria? What a joke, waste of time and inconsiderate of them. Then Michael tells me he's going to look in to it and to give corporate a call -- for what? To tell them you and your supervisor are incompetent and rude? I get it was 4:10 pm and you close at 4:15 as your supervisor so kindly pointed out but don't schedule appointments at 4 pm then. Don't bother with these people - go elsewhere.

I remember back in high school that I made my first blood donation. This was almost 9 years ago. I always wanted to give back and since I am a big boy, I can do it. Anyway, this is a good location for me and the staff were very friendly to me. I know a few of them and because of that, my experience was enjoyable and worthwhile. I was also selected as a match one time and the transport got me there on time. Although the initial needle punchure always hurts, it gradually settles. The staff also accommodated my every need whether I'm cold or uncomfortable. Finally, it is easy to get to and it is near some restaurants should I go hungry. It makes me very proud to be a donor.
