VERY disappointed & feel let down. I've heard nothing but high reviews about this doctor from friends, but when I went to him he treated me with such disrespect. He totally wasted my time, would only look at my patient records & imaging for a couple minutes, insults me by telling me I'm not truly sick that all I need is to eat right and get some exercise and that in 6-9 months time I will be able to cone off my narcotic pain meds I take for my Ankylosing Spondylitis because I really do NOT have AS. He was able to tell me all this without so much as even doing a thorough exam, looking over my 8 yrs of patient records, or doing any tests of his own. I sat in his office begging him to help me cause my prior rheumatologist was leaving her practice. And, he said he would only help me if I agreed to come off my pain meds, exercise, and eat right, despite telling him that diet & exercise alone do not take care of my pain (something I've tried before that helped "some" but never "controlled" my pain).

Rip. Off. I went here for one appointment. I ended up with an over $500 bill for a bunch of labs they ordered that tell me NOTHING. I would NOT recommend going in because it's a money pit. Come in for tests, but pay to come back because they won't tell you anything about the results that helps until you come back in ($$). Waste of money. It was next to IMPOSSIBLE to get an appointment in the first place as well. Shanahan was a nice enough person, so that's the only reason this isn't one star.

The PA I have been seeing over the last few years has never had a very good bed-side manner, but I was willing to overlook this aspect. However, I have never felt like I am actually being heard regarding my symptoms. Then, I was fired as a patient in January of 2018. I was billed for a copay in November. I had pneumonia in both lungs and forgot to pay it. When a second statement was sent in December, I immediately paid it. Then, in January, I received the certified mail terminating the doctor/patient relationship for, "recurrent bad debt." I missed one bill, one month, but paid it the next! So, I suppose this office is only truly concerned with money, not patient care. I overpaid on a previous visit in 2016, but I didn't demand a refund! I simply asked that they keep the credit on my account, so I didn't have to pay at the following visit. The all mighty dollar runs this practice. I highly recommend you visit another practice if looking for a Rheumatologist.

Dumbfounded. Seriously, I still can't fathom this is how they run their practice. I was a patient for 3 years, never paid late, never had an issue. I let them cocktail me with all kinds of combinations, until we finally get it right and now they dismissed me like some child. THEY moved their practice and it made for a longer drive so I started looking into other options. I had to get my records sent to I could try to get an appt at a place closer to me, I explained i was not that was switching but I needed to weigh my options working full time and with 4 kids. They said they had to send my records to the new place as my referral so they asked me to send a fax to request that they did that, never did they say that when they did this they would FIRE ME as their patient. I called up to schedule an appt 2 weeks later and to get my refills and they so very (not) politely told me that I had been discharged and was no longer a patient. 2 days later I got a certified letter firing me formally. So now i was stuck going with the other place that I was looking into to but they wouldn't even talk to me without a referral (are you starting to see the circular logic here?) SO I waited 2 MONTHS to get in....in the meantime Dr. Shanahan (whom i only saw once in 3 years BTW) was so kind as to call me in one refill to "get me thru". I went to the new place today, I didn't like the Dr., didn't like the office and just wasn't happy with the way they worked, which again I wouldn't know until I saw the Dr, but couldn't do without sending them my records. I called Shanahan's office back to see about being reinstated and they proceed to tell me that under no circumstances do they reinstate discharged patients! are you freaking kidding me???? I have a chronic medical condition, I should have the right to weigh my options, especially when they moved their practice, and when I wanted to come back they say no. I am now without medication, without a Dr. and have no referral because they just can't help me since I am not a patient. Run, don't walk, away from this place, they are clearly all about the money, and care nothing about the patient. I can't believe they treat people this way.

They use a rip-off testing service Quest Diagnostics. I had blood tests to see if I had an autoimmune disease. They charged $3683. Nothing I can do about it. We need consumer advocacy in medicine. This is destroying our country. They charge such a high price to increase the patients out of pocket spending because they know it is a percentage of the final bill. Then they give the insurance company (but not you) a discount so you end up paying more than the insurance company. Don't forget the fact that I pay deductables and monthly premiums for insurance. We need to fight against these practices! If this also happens to you please post.

My mother had a visit by Dr. Shanahan while in the hospital recently, and really liked him. We tried three different times to confirm an appointment as her symptoms had returned, and were told that she could come in within a few days, which we were very pleased with. That all ended when we arrived at the office, and were told we didn't have an appointment that day, and that our appointment was two weeks out - on a day that we would be out of town, so somehow the appointment was 'automatically' moved and we were told they couldn't do anything. Given the attitude at the front desk and the fact that the Office Manager would not come out and speak with us when asked to, we will not be returning. While Dr. Shanahan impressed my Mom at the hospital, his office staff and their attitude will keep us from being a patient of his.

I have been going to Dr. Shanahan for ten years or more . He’s seen me through some of the hardest times in my life. I have never had a problem with billing or copay. I went with him when they moved their practice. I would highly recommend him to anyone !

I have been a patient with this office for a while now. Dr. Shanahan has been a wonderful Dr. I have never had any trouble with communication with the office staff or the clinical staff. I have alway had my medical questions answered in a timely manor. The staff has always worked with me when I needed help with patient support for my medications. He has worked with me trying to find the best medicines to help my RA.

Dr. Shanahan and his team are wonderful! I have been going here for years and would never go anywhere else. The staff is always pleasant and attentive. I had been struggling to determine what was causing my pain and limited mobility and after my very first visit, Dr. Shanahan quickly identified the issue and started me on the road to relief and remission. The wait times have always been short but the nurses always take their time and Dr. Shanahan always answers any questions I have. A very professional group and well run practice. I couldn't recommend more! My quality of life is back to normal and I am so very thankful!

I was relieved to finally find a Dr whom I am comfortable with and confident in what they are telling me. I never felt rushed during my appointment with Dr. Shanahan. He took the time to listen and explained in detail his thoughts on recommended next steps. Everyone from the front office to the medical assistant were extremely polite and pleasant to be around. The office space is very welcoming and the location was extremely convenient to get to.
