Slow service, dingy digs....but really good catfish sandwich. Enjoyed the rich black Americana photos and memorabilia. Staff and cooks were all recent hires and engaging. Once had been on food network show and I think deserves a second chance

Great service, genuine & kind hospitality, inviting decor that makes you feel like you are at ma's house, and great tasting soul food (that I could clearly see was cooked and seasoned fresh with care). I was very surprised at the location of this place. In a million years I would NEVER expect to take the elevator to the second floor of a building off of Colfax and be pleasantly surprised by gentle and warming energy when I walked in from the elevator. I'm not sure how I didn't know about this place before but the candied yams (made in-house and not from the can), the Mac and cheese (which reminded me that Mac and cheese is still my favorite food), the pork chops (which made me happy I wasn't a vegetarian), and the fried cat fish were enough to make me grab the husband, the kids, grandma, the neighbor, AND the family cat and come back to spend some quality time. Yum.

Cat fish was really good. Super nice great manners. It really has that down south home feel to it. If you want to eat some where peaceful and quiet that's your place.

What a surprise. This quaint, quiet beautiful, casual restaurant is hidden in the hustle and bustle of Aurora. The menu has just about every traditional southern food you could want. My friend and I had fried chicken, fried okra, salad, cornbread and sweet tea. My other friend had a sausage sammich. That's right, not sandwich, but sammich. We had 2 treats for appetizers: hush puppies, and fries with real down-home gravy! The menu has lots of catfish, cornbread, greens and mash with gravy. Oh, and don't forget the pork chops. They have southern desserts. A few other families trickled in on this early Saturday evening. We were too full for dessert. I've read that there wasn't enough food for the price: not so! This is probably the lowest-priced full restaurant in this area! The bill was a very pleasant surprise for such good food. I loved how quiet it was and you could not hear the traffic on Colfax, which is definitely a plus. My group will be back for sure, and every time I drive in that area on Colfax, I will consider going in for a meal.

For a southern girl that misses good home cooking this is the place to go. Sweet tea is wonderful. Collard greens and okra are just like home. Next time I think I will just try a bunch of sides. My pork chop was good, the rabbit was good, the chicken was good (we shared) but the sides were wonderful.

Our 2 orders of Catfish with bone-in was Excellent! Side dishes of collard greens, sweet potatoes and potato salad all went well with our sweet Tea served in old fashioned Mason Jars. Nothing was left on our plates. The young lady that served our booth was very attentive. We will schedule another lunch visit very soon. Hope to see you there!

The food was excellent! And the service was great. Most of all, the prices were reasonable.

Terrible to-go packaging. I ordered from a delivery service and the greens juice was absolutely everywhere, and my cornbread was not included. Although I love good flavor, the pintos and rice were too salty to eat, but the catfish and gravy was pretty good. My toddler ate most of it. Their desserts are not included on the menu, but I called ahead to see what was available, and like the cornbread it wasn't included. I see that the owners are very responsive on here, so I hope next time I try them they've made some much needed adjustments.

The owner makes it her business to make you feel appreciated at her Cafe. The cakes made daily are scrumptious. The people are just down home. Just love the menu. I don't really like the Sweet Tea but that's because I've never had it that way. Going back next time I'm in the area.
