I love this place! It’s like getting 5 years of bartending experience! I learned so much in a short amount of time. Your textbook gives you a wide variety of recipes and is included in your tuition. The way that they are listed makes it easy to memorize. Each day of class is a different chapter in your text. Beth teaches you how to make the drinks properly, teaches you history on the alcohol along with critical information that every bartender needs to know! During the lecture portion of the class, you taste different drinks as you go along, so that you are able to identify why they are made a specific way. After you learn about the drinks, you make the drinks yourself! After our martinis and manhattans chapter, we took a field trip to a gin distillery! It’s a great atmosphere and Beth is a blast to be around! She also gives you jobs to apply for that best suits you and what you are looking for! If you are even considering going, I encourage you to drop in and check it out! It’s wirth every penny!

It teaches you a lot of info, that's for sure. There is only one person who actually teaches, Janet, and she is motivated to help us learn. The other director mostly just sits in her office, if she is even there. The school itself, is very dirty. The whole place smells like dirty dog. The class room is full of dust, it literally gave me a sinus headache every time I came to class. You're paying for the textbook, you have to study and memorize everything. The job placement is a joke. They do not really care about where you go, they care more about recruiting new students. Makes sense, more money in their pocket. It is not worth the price. Even there "promotional price" is still extremely expensive ($700) and full price is $1000. NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. It would almost be better to start off as a waitress at a restaurant and then move up to bartender. You would save a ton of money and a ton of headaches. And, you would work with someone who actually wants you to get a job.

The place is a huge joke. The comments of no job placement and giving you leads from Craigslist...all true. They'll tell you anything to get your money. The other comment of places telling you to be a server first...also true. Big waste of money and the owner knows it. She can run her loud mouth all she wants and threaten to "get her red pen" but its still a fat ripoff. Spend your money at your own risk. I'd like to know how much money they paid the five star reviews!?

Beth is an amazing teacher all around. She prepares you for ANY type of bartending. High end to just a cheap bar. I got a bartending job the week right after I finished my course. I know there are a lot of websites that say bartending school is a waste of money. Trust me ITS NOT. You have to put the work in to actually get a job even though she gives you contacts to speak to. Bartending school can be pricey however, it's worth it. She teaches you just about everything and I felt so ready when I actually started working and I have a true passion for it now! If you are going to bartending school just to find a bartending job... don't waste your time just start off as a barback and work your way up. But if you want to go to actually learn how to make drinks, history, actual knowledge, and insight about alcohol go. Worth the experience. And a added plus BETH IS OUTSTANDING. She actually cares and keeps in contact with you and if you ever have a question about ANYTHING even after you are done she is a text away. Excellent excellent school.

Beth is great. I attended this school for around 2 months while working full time at a job I hated. I studied the recipes and Beth made it easy to get a good basic understanding of what you need to know to excel at your first bartending job. I came in with no experience and a week after graduating I got a job. Beth gave me a few names of some really good local bar owners after we talked about the kind of bar I want to be at. But the amazing part is that she really does know a lot of people in a lot of different areas because the job I got, she didn't tell me about an opening. In the interveiw, I said my only experience is bartending school and they said, "Oh, Beth's bartending school?" I truly appreciate the experience I gained from this school. I'd say for any advice to you out there is pay attention to Beth, study the recipes, remember at least one signature drink from her and if you're on the edge about going, sit in on a class!

ISPB-KC was a wonderful experience for me. Beth Merrill puts her heart and soul into this school. She’s very knowledgeable and helpful as long as you’re willing to show up and do the work. I enjoyed my week long stay in Kansas City while attending the Bartending School. Airbnb made it convenient and cost effective. After tuition, lodging, gas and food my entire trip cost me $1000. I’m very satisfied with the education I received and would recommend this program to anyone interested in Bartending. CHEERS!

The experience I had at the International School of Bartending school was outstanding! Beth is a great teacher and gives you all the tools to be successful. She also does not waste time in providing connections to full time and part time job opportunities, you can start making money really fast! As someone who had no experience behind a bar previously I knew I could get a job and work my way up or go somewhere to get a solid training experience that would allow me to get the gig I wanted. This school is well worth the investment and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn a little more about bartending!
