Company Description
After retiring in August, 1983 with 26 years of service to the Houston Police Department, we started Kelley's Country Cookin. Our first location was inside Lang's Pharmacy at 8015 Park Place at the Gulf Freeway. We began with 9 devoted employees and a seating capacity of 50. Today, the entire Kelley family takes pride in ownership and we now have seven locations, employ over 600 and have a combined seating capacity of approximately 1600.

Amazing breakfast! Coffee was wonderful. The biscuits were delicious and HUGE!! Chicken fried steak was tender and flavorful. Portions were huge, service was incredible!!
I really like this place but the food is so greasy and heavy. It gives me the bubble guts every time I eat here. I love that cops eat here regularly. Staff sometimes take a little long to acknowledge you but when they finally do service is great. I am just being honest, but I do like to come here and think my stomach issues shouldnt make a company bad.
Food was good, price was right, i had the grilled fish, it was a tad salty but i didn't have any trouble finishing it! Overall it was a nice experience! I loved the homemade slaw!
It has a great variety of food. The service is good also. I ordered the grilled chicken with mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and corn and it also came with rice. Everything I ordered was good, but the rice was too salty.
I came in this place hungry and left super full after eating the Texas size chicken fried steak. Then they had the nerve to give you three sides with that large piece of deliciousness to stuff you more and I ate it all. I definitely recommend the stop by. The area is rough on the outside but dont let that fool you the food and the people are awesome.
How can an establishment call themselves country cooking, when they can't even make white gravy? Ordered chicken fried steak and the gravy was yellow. Too much butter or cheese that made the color yellow, but the taste was no where close to traditional white cream gravy. A simple bechamel. Ruined our visit. Also prices way too high for the quality of food. Used to be good. Things change. Save your money.
Came here after an eight day cruise. Arrived for breakfast around ten am on a Sunday. Our waiter was ok, but definitely not the most friendly. We didn't mind as we knew this place is known for food more than the customer service. It is a diner. Nothing more, nothing less. All the food was good. All the dishes could be for two people. Everyone took home leftovers. Chicken fried steak was great. The chicken fried chicken was great. The waffles came out hot. Eggs over medium done right (it was a welcome change from the cruise ship). It was just great food! The waiter did get us extra gravy to take home. Nice touch. Will come back if in the area.
Holy cow. I'm pretty sure I ate this meal 3 times. These had to be the BIGGEST portions I've ever been served. EVER. The feel inside was like eating at grandma's house, and the service was great. Never an empty glass, the meal began with giant rolls and mini corbreads, and we took so many to go boxes it was crazy. Everything tasted great and we were pleasantly surprised. Also...I don't know where they get their potatoes from, but seriously, the potato was over a foot long. I should have included something for size reference in the picture. Great job, guys!
The food was delicious and they serve you a large portion. I even have lunch for tomorrow. This was our second time there the service the first time was amazing. Today we had a server named Raymond who made me feel like we were bothering him to take our order and not very pleasant. If we decide to come back I will make sure he is not my server.
Great tasting food! Large portions so plan on taking food to go. I will definitely be back. ALBERT was our waiter and he was fantastic.
Great food and excellent customer service. I got the Chicken fried steak plate and man was it the bomb! I couldn’t even finish half of it. To top it off, you get three sides, bread and cornbread all for under $12. I made this purchase on a Saturday. I’m from Chicago and this is my first time in Houston, TX and I would definitely come back here.
