He's great. I'm terrified of all things invasive. He's the only dentist who can deal with me, and I don't know how I'd have faced my 1st root canal anywhere else. I feel he has my interests at heart (yes, really) and I'm telling you NO PAIN WHATSOEVER with the root canal (although quite a bit of fear). I could go on, but this should be enough to guide you. I hope he never retires during my lifetime!
Dr. Cohen is great. He is very thorough, precise and is great at diagnostic stuff. He is also very helpful with answering questions. I've asked him a lot of questions and he was always there to respond either in person or via mail.
I've had two root canal procedures done by Dr. Cohen. Before the first one, he proudly told me that I would not experience a second of pain. He was right. And the second procedure was the same. The procedures were more comfortable than most of the cleanings I've had. He said that I might need some ibuprofen after the anesthetic wore off. I never did. I recommend him highly.
I have been to see Dr. Stephen Cohen a couple of times - His waiting room was very welcoming - although close to Union Square, I felt far away from the downtown bustle of San Francisco. He thoroughly examined the tooth in question and explained his findings. Dr. Cohen was very clear in explaining my choices. He made no bones about the fact that he could not guarantee the results of his work, saying that despite his best efforts, the tooth may still need to be removed in future. Sometimes, with other dentists, I have felt that I am being "sold' on a plan of action - with Dr. Cohen I felt no pressure - simply informed choice. When I did decide to go ahead with having the crown removed and having the root canal work, he assured me there would be no pain - and there wasn't. Dr. Cohen exudes confidence born of experience. Dr. Cohen agreed to evaluate and treat a damaged molar on the same day as my appointment with Dr. Edward Loev. His receptionist and he were both pleasant and attentive people to deal with. Dr. Cohen performed a complicated root canal procedure. Dr. Cohen is a kind, respectful, highly skilled, and quite distinguished dental surgeon. I would highly recommend.
Dr. Cohen is very patient, honest, and explains things thoroughly. I felt no pain and his staff were extremely polite and helpful. Highly recommend!
I've been referred to Dr. Cohen twice across a 10+ year span, both ending in positive experiences. First visit ended with a root canal on a molar that has been trouble free ever since. The procedure was painless and relatively comfortable, with Dr. Cohen explaining the process throughout. Second visit demonstrated the benefits of his conservative practice. After a thorough test of the tooth he determined no procedure was necessary. My referring dentist tells me that most referrals to an endodontist will end in a root canal, but that Dr. Cohen himself carefully determines whether it is needed. He also drills very small holes which is important in cases like mine, where a crown is already in place on the affected tooth. A friend told me years ago that when it comes to root canals, "he's the man". It's still true. His office is very comfortable and calming and his staff friendly and professional. Moreover, he's a very kind & charming individual. I recommend his practice highly.
Dr. Cohen is a very unethical Dental expert witness, at least for me. He accepted to be by expert witness in my dental malpractice case even though he knew the defense expert witnesses and just this by itself is a conflict of interest and in violation of the Ethics code of the Dental Board of California. unfortunately I trusted him and signed no written contract with him. I gave him a $3500 check which he deposited to cache immediately after I left his office. The later made it impossible for me to stop payments on the check a few days later when he withdraw his services and refused to refund me my money even though he did not provide a legal expert witness report to me he was paid for. Just the fact that Dr. Cohen deposited my check to cache immediately after ai left his office shows that his actions were premeditated and this is an unethical act. Unfortunately I was not able to take any positive legal action because I had no signed a written contract with him. My message here to you all is to stay away from this doctor as a dental expert witness. IMHO p.s. Dr. Cohen's provides dental expert witness services from the same office he practices his dental practice.
Incredible time spent with the Doc. Very professional. Great advice. Sweet people. Fantastic view of downtown and the bay. Did I say a root canal wasn't necessary?!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. There's a part of me that would love to return, tho once is enough.
Love Dr. Cohen! I had four root canals done by him eleven years ago and my teeth still feel/look good. His office always is flexible and very helpful - it was an emergency and they fit me right in.
