Company Description

We’ve come a long way since opening our doors way back in 1889! Zoo Atlanta has changed dramatically since the earliest days of our Victorian origins, from the fascinating series of events that led to Atlanta’s first zoo, to the legendary Willie B., to the history of our giant panda program.

Nice place. They were under construction so it is improving. It's always depressing to see the sad animals in cages but my 4 year old enjoyed every minute. Get there early or you will have to park a few blocks away. Not a bad neighborhood though. Over all a decent experience!

Smaller zoo based on city scene but not too bad. Built within a park/forest so there’s lots of shade. All the animals are close to each other so it’s very good for young children. The walk paths and entrance doors are small. Actually, the zoo is smaller and tight overall. Walk paths can barely fit two baby strollers side by side. Animal selection was okay. Kids friendly! I liked how there was zoo experts at random locations answering questions and offering informative insights. Very educational! Small parking lot, we arrived at 10 am (open at 9:30 am) and lot was full already. We parked a short walk away from the zoo lot. Street parking filled up very fast as well. Ticket line moved quick. There was a separate line/entrance for advance ticket such as online, members, etc

Nice zoo with plenty to see. New African environment is opening soon. That will make the number and diversity of animals even better. Setup is easy to follow. Nice gift store. Can get tickets ahead to avoid the line. Easy to do a half day visit and see it all. Kid friendly play areas.

We enjoyed the Atlanta Zoo, parking for us was free in the lot we parked in, smaller zoo but very clean and nice exhibits for all of the animals. All habitats seemed spacious. Would liked to have seen some shows but they are very spread out throughout the day. Also wish signing was as little more direct, we had to walk around and look for a few things that with a little more signage we would have found on the same path without back tracking. Overall nice zoo, took us about 5 hours to cover everything and we took lots of pics and had lunch, shopped in a couple different shops. Allow at least 4 hrs.

Really hot on the day we went, but we had a great time. We had enough people to get the group price, including 8 kids from 3-12, and they all had a wonderful time. Definitely bring an extra change of clothes for kiddos because there is a free water area by the carousel and train. Bring some snacks and water if you don't want to spend a lot on food. Definitely stay hydrated. Overall great time.

We LOVE Zoo Atlanta! The new alpacas are a new favorite for our family and yesterday we got to watch the bird show that was terrific! These people truly love and care for the animals so well! If you're local take advantage of being close to one of the best zoos in the US! We would HIGHLY recommend the membership to anyone and the adventure plan (passports) for families!

Had a great time. Lots of animals. (Turtle Overload) Lots of shaded areas throughout the zoo. Lots of restrooms very clean and clearly marked throughout. I appreciated the restaurant (The Wild Planet Cafe)with their efficiency. Got food quickly and was able to continue with my tour in a timely manner. Enjoyed the southwest salad with chicken and the cheeseburger and fries weren't bad at all.

I'm rating this 5 stars based on truly enjoying my time at the zoo. I will say it isn't the greatest or biggest zoo I've ever been to but it was very well kept and had a good variety of Animals. While it seems like the pandas were the star here I enjoy many of lesser known animals housed here, all of which offered nice views. The zoo is built into a park so there was plenty of shade so even in July I never truly felt hot. Certainly worth a visit if you're in town and I hope to come back and try one of the many animal encounters they offer.

We visited when it was under construction but it was still a great experience. Georgia libraries have a free family pass if you go Monday-Friday so if you live here take advantage of a free experience. Of course you will want to go back again and pay, it is worth it! There is also free parking and military (active and retired) are always free. We have a one and three year old so their favorite experience was the train ride and cool kiddie bathrooms in the kiddie area. They did want to ride the carousel and play on the playground too. They did not care much for the petting area, but they did enjoy the elephants and gorillas the most. They have fun personalities and interact with the guests. The staff also were helpful and informative if you go when they have scheduled events. The tree house for primates and birds was also fun and shaded which is great for families on hot days. My kids also loved the kimono dragon and were excited to see a real dragon. Nearby is the mole area that encourages kids to crawl and climb like moles. It is cute and kind of creepy, which is fun for kids.
