Zero BS, just a good school with a good culture.
After years of triathlon training, I was seeking a more balanced fitness approach for continued self improvement. Wow, did I find it. While I am learning a self defense system with great concepts and principles, these people have me working muscles I have not used in a while. They are quick with constructive feedback and will push you to improve, but will not overwhelm you. Krav Maga classes usually include cardio and stretching, stance and combatives, and defenses. You are learning from class one. They offer Combat Fitness classes, which are as intense as you wish to make them. They have just moved into brand new digs, and can now also offer kickboxing classes. There are male and female instructors, and a great mix of male and female adult students. Everybody is supportive and welcoming. I am three and a half months into my training, and am impressed with the fitness and skills I have acquired. I highly recommend this place to adults looking to start training.
In summary this is a self-defense training center with a fitness mindset.
The primary reason I joined and what I imagine most people are looking for initially is a quality self defense training center, specifically teaching Krav Maga. A membership includes access to all classes of your level, and starting off there is at least one a day available for level 1.
Not only does the membership go to this level of flexibility in schedule but they offer additional fitness or workout classes included with it, to get into and then maintain being in shape.
Combine all of this with friendly and helpful instructors and management make it a hard to beat place to train.
AKMF is awesome! I've been training here for the past three months and I absolutely love it! The instructors are world-class and the training is second to none. I highly recommend AKMF for anyone interested in self defense and fitness.
I train at the KMW facility in Los Angeles so when I found myself in Atlanta, I wanted to find a training facility that was on par with the main headquarters. I was fortunate enough to find Atlanta Krav Maga and feel that they truly embody the professionalism and spirit of the organization. I was greeted by Deborah who made me feel very welcome by showing me around the facility and introducing me to the instructor and some of the students. Our instructor, Eric Vassey was phenomenal to work with and I can’t wait to share some of the drills he did with us with my instructors once I get home. Eric Sepeda, the chief instructor and owner came out to welcome me and invite me to visit next time I am in the area. Really great place with experienced, knowledgeable staff and nice, clean facilities. I highly recommend you check them out!
I am absolutely loving this program! It’s kicking my tail end most days, but I always leave feeling accomplished and that isn’t something I’ve gotten out of other trainings. The sore is well worth it! I really believe that this goes beyond a workout for me, it is really a safety assurance too.I love the community feel and am sincerely enjoying the whole experience!
So much more than just another martial arts gym. You really are part of a family here. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and great to work with. There are tons of extra events that they organize and it's always a blast!
I've been here for about 10 months now and can honestly say that this place has become a second home to me. I've learned so much about myself through training here. Everyone has the best intentions and genuinely wants you to succeed. I'm so glad I found this place. Definitely worth checking out!
The instructors at this school are wonderful! They are highly qualified and care about the students. They put their best effort into making sure all students learn correctly while having fun. If you are looking for fitness or self defense classes this is the place!
I wish I could give this place a better review. I believe in the method and the classes are legit...however after the way to owner spoke to me, I can’t. I had bought a 3 kickboxing class special and after going to the first class I had serious bruising on my shins for a couple weeks. I called and asked if I could use the voucher for a Fitness class instead, and the girl at the front desk said it would be no problem. When I showed up for the class we were in the middle of the warm up when the owner stopped and asked why I was there considering I had bought a kickboxing special and not the Fitness class. I told him I had called and spoke with his assistant and all he said was “Well, I’ll have to speak with her.” He could have pulled me aside later but instead embarrassed me in front of the class. I left after the class and haven’t returned. I have been to a few different classes here and I really wanted to join but the prices held me back. After the way I was treated I don’t care to go back.
