My daughter took two classes at the Austin School of Fashion Design this week. I'm so impressed with what she has learned in such a short amount of time. Thank you, ASFD!
Love this school! Love the owner, Ilonka and all of her teachers!
Looking for someone who can grade/scale my designs.. Offering Free Housing
the school is so professional yet laid back, roomy yet cozy. im so comfortable there. Ilonka makes everyone feel so welcome!
I have learned so much in just the first three weeks at ASFD. Ilonka brings such a great energy to the learning environment and genuinely cares about your progress in learning. Even fashion show opportunities have been discussed! Excited to see what is to come. :)
ASFD gave me a great start and the belief in myself that directly helped me get into one of the most competitive degree fashion design programs in the country at FIT.
My daughter has taken several classes in fashion illustration and just took her first sewing class yesterday and LOVED it (after refusing to learn for over a year!) Everyone we have met is patient, excited about what they do, and excited to teach. Very motivating.
The Austin School of Fashion Design is a very positive-energy creative space with THE best instructors on sewing, garment construction, pattern making, and fashion design. The instruction is easy to understand. Small classes, one-to-one mentoring. What more could you want? Beautiful.
My 8yo daughter attended three camps, learning fashion illustration and advancing her sewing skills. And she had fun! The teachers are incredibly patient and supportive and always took time to visit with me when I had questions. I was blown away by what my daughter accomplished each week, especially when she was not feeling confident about her illustrations. ASFD is a Austin treasure.
I took the Garment Construction I course here and it was worth every penny. I am sad and having sewing-withdrawals now that the course it over. I gained basic knowledge about how the sewing machine and serger operate, how to troubleshoot typical sewing problems, and about a variety of stitching and zipper techniques. We wrapped up the course with a final project, creating an A-line style skirt, which was a blast! The skirt is something I will wear all the time, (and I'm going to make a matching necktie for my dog.) The classes are so engrossing and fun that the 3 hours you are working really flies by. The best thing about the whole experience was becoming friends with my fellow students and teacher, Cecilia, who is incredibly knowledgable, patient, and hands-on. She's amazing and I'll really miss learning from her! I'm planning on signing up for the Garment Construction II course as soon as my schedule opens up a bit. Do yourself a favor and get enrolled! You won't regret it :)
