Review & Rating
Dedicated to biking rather than just selling stuff, Jeff Ferris has grown the business over the past 30+ years. My family has bought at least 7 bikes there, and we've been happy with them. The shop stands behind the products it sells.
Though they carry all types of bikes (from kids' bikes up through "those fancy carbon things with too few spokes") I'm most impressed with their focus on actually riding and using your bike. We've had repairs done countless times, and the service is great. We've found that they're sensitive to the needs of commuters, and I've often been surprised that they can fit in an emergency repair when needed.
Jeff Ferris, the owner, has been a pillar of the JP community, organizing around bike issues, and providing support for various events in the community. Events at the shop include monthly commuter pancake breakfasts, instruction and group rides (both road and mountain.)
Awesome crew! Friendly and warm. Build up a relationship -- take the time to listen to their advice. They work with a wide range of bikes and types of riders. Call ahead to schedule a tune-up and they will make it work for your schedule. Wide selection of accessories -- ask, if you don't see it; much of their stock is not necessarily visible.
Knowledgeable and quick quality service. I tend to go here to order my parts for my road bike and get their suggestions on what to order. They go through the options with some pros/cons. Once a year I'll drop my bike off to get a full service tune-up as well.
They also stand by their workmanship. Had some issues with some parts and they fixed them up no extra charge right on the spot.
Ever since I moved to JP, I have been coming to the shop for a variety of reasons: accessories, spare parts, and some mechanical services. The folks at Ferris Wheels have always been super helpful and fantastic. Highly recommended.
Put air in my bike tire. The staff were super friendly. I wrote this review a month ago and today I went back to buy headlights for my bike from them because of the past good experience. The owner, Jeff, greeted me and after showing a few headlights asked one of his staff to continue. I was standing near my bike listening to his staff. Jeff was behind me and wanted to pass by me. I had an off-shoulder top on. Jeff put his hand on my bare shoulder to pass by me which made me uncomfortable.
Excellent in every way. Quick and professional service, friendly and helpful, very reasonable prices.
My fav local bike shop. Everyone who works there is friendly and knowledgeable. They will help you no matter how small or big is your problem. Nice selection of bike brands and bikes, and very decent range of apparel and accessories.
Typically, I like to support local business. Unfortunately, this bike shop doesn't support local cyclists. A quick use of a tool for a would be customer. It's a shame really.
As always, they were knowledgeable and helpful. I needed a new front wheel for my bike, and they gave me what I needed without charging more than they should or trying to get me to buy stuff I didn't need. Great place!
Great local bike shop. Friendly and helpful. Anything you would want to know
Update: this is also a great place to shop bikes and get fitted. I bought two bikes for my young kid here and they were patient and answered all his questions. They let us test ride some of their unusual bikes and had great advice shoe cargo and ebikes.
Super nice, knowledgeable mechanics and salespeople. I am not a bike mechanic and they don't talk down to me in this place, they are just friendly and helpful. When I bring my bike here, I really feel like they do everything they can to help me quickly, and their rates are very fair. They are a neighborhood institution at this point. You will see all sorts of cyclists young and old going in and out of this shop.
