Company Description

Jones is Portland’s hottest dance club. It’s all 80s/90s, all the time! A vision and dream come true for owner Nikki Jones (who also owns downtown’s hippest karaoke bar, The Boiler Room), Jones is a true reflection of her passion for creating downtown bars with neighborhood vibes.

I have been back to Jones a few times recently and feel the need to update my review. If you are going to call yourself an "80's & 90's dance club" and have plenty of ambiance and decor to reinforce this idea you should be playing music from the 80's and 90's. The last two visits I have made to Jones have had a little music from the 80's and 90's decades with more and more current music seeming to take over. I really used to love coming here to get my dance on because the music was great and I knew what I was going to get after paying my cover fee. I now feel pretty reluctant to frequent this place anymore and it makes me sad.

Denied entry because bouncer insisted my ID picture looked fake. Didn’t use a black light to verify whatsoever. Unfortunate, because my wife and I were looking forward to the dance class they were having that night.

Staff and bouncers are SUPER testy except for the bartenders. Was surprised to be checked for guns as well. Music selection was alright except for when the DJ deviated from the theme occasionally. Not going back, but had a decent night.

My friends and I love coming here. Never any drama, the tables are a great price and its just fun. Highly recommendable for the dance n party go-oer

Great music and nice looking venue, but the crowd it attracts can often be the opposite. Several poor experiences of people who have had one too many drinks running into others haphazardly on the dance floor or friends who've been groped by men prowling through the crowds.

This place is alright... was debating on 3 or 4 stars... it’s set up for a younger crowd, but I guess anyone can come. It’s got a 90’s theme with the decor, drinks, and music (think Tang, cassettes, and Fugees). I mean... the DJ was just okay when we went. It wasn’t a threatening nightclub, though you’ll always find guys on the prowl in any of them. Drinks were a bit overpriced for the size. It looks small until they open up the other side later at night (so you’ll have 2 bars). Looks like they have a reserved area if you want one. I think they have an outdoor patio. Ladies get in free before 10 I think. Not sure if I’d go back. Maybe if the music was more dancy?

Worst club in all of Portland. If you like early twenty somethings yelling and practically puking on each other, all to the tune of sir mix a lot on a very poorly tuned sound system, this is your place. I was attending a birthday party that decided to go here as a stop along the way. We waited over 40 min in line all to immediately run to the patio where I tried to get drinks for my party all to have a bartender with an attitude tell me as a 33 year old completely sober man that I could only order one drink at a time. Just awful. Pick anywhere else

Veterans listen! I liked this club because of the music that they play and that they let vets in for free. Everything changed when I simply used the bathroom. While using the urinal I saw an array of medicines and cologne available on the counter. I saw some antacid tabs and decided to have one. I finished, washed my hands and as I was exiting some big guy that was sitting in the corner stood up and blocked me from the exit. He said, "How much are those antacids you just took?". I said, "A dollar at the dollar store". He said, "This ain't the dollar store, you better pay me for those antacids." I took a step back and said, "what". He immediately said, "Security to the bathroom" in a portable radio. Three security guards showed up within seconds. He verbatim told them the story exactly as it happened. They looked at me and said, "So you either pay the man or we escort you out of the club". They wanted me to pay for a single antacid tab that was on the counter with no signs or inkling that it would cost me any money. I said "I'm not paying for a single antacid tab from a box that cost a dollar and is on the counter of a club I paid to be at". They said, "sorry that's how it works here", and escorted me out of the bathroom. My girlfriend was out there waiting and they escorted both of us out to the street. Once we got to the street I spoke with the bouncer and explained that I didn't do anything but say "what" to the guy in the bathroom and he said, "sorry, I don't make the rules" then walked away. This is completely crazy to charge someone access to a club then kick them out because they don't immediately pay for things that openly look free of charge on the counter in the bathroom with no signs that indicate otherwise. A complete scam and should not be legal.
