Bought a car from this place and was told that everything that i said was wrong with it would be fixed. Over time i tried to bring my car in for repair but couldn't because they never had the loaner car. Then when they did get the loaner car back months later it couldn't be used because it had problems. Then i was informed that they no longer do repairs and i had to end up paying about 3k to get the car fixed ( which i refused to do after 3 months of owning the car) and after it wasn't even inspected by there dealership. Gave the car back to get out of the horrible car deal. Don't do business with them and if you do be careful. BMW broke down after 3 months of driving it and they did not honor the fact they said they would fix all the problems ( to many to list) This place sucks very badly!!!!

They had the car I had been looking for. It was better than described. Everyone treated me professionally and courteously. I would definitely recommend R&D.

One of the best experiences I've had with buying a vehicle. Rob (the owner) made the entire process very easy and I got to drive away in a very nice car. I drove here from San Antonio so I was blown away by the service that was provided at this dealership. Thanks R&D Motors and Rob!!

Over the years, I've dealt with private buyers & sellers, high-end dealerships, and everything in between and I've never had a better experience than I did with these folks. My husband and I found the perfect car for our teenage driver at the Lamar location and Ray, the salesman was polite, easygoing and honest. Honestly, just about any car in their inventory would fit the bill for us...they have some great rides! We picked out a very clean, low-mileage Subaru and their price was fair. We couldn't be happier. We had to finalize the transaction at the North Loop location, but again, Mike was laid back nice guy and I was in and out in half an hour. (By contrast, a big name local dealership tried to make the buying process as painful as possible once we affirmed we would not use their financing, and tried to go back on things they agreed to...very shady!) Shortly after leaving with the car, I realized I had lost my earring but didn't think it would turn up. A few hours later, Rosie called my husband because she FOUND it! If you want the real-deal good ol' Austin treatment, this is your place. We will definitely be repeat buyers! Oh and our teenager LOVES her car. Thank you R&D!

I heard about R&D and how it’s all about the customer. So I drove up from San Antonio to buy my son a car and I must say I was very impressed. They had great quality cars and very willing to work with you. Even the extra work they put into their vehicles to make sure its what you’re looking for was worth 5 stars easy. So if you’re looking for a great car at great prices then R&D is the place.

I waited about two months to post this review so I could be as calm and reasonable as possible. However as you can see from the pictures, our experience with R & D motors did not end well. Our 24-year-old son was sold a 350 horse power Pontiac GTO, with near bald rear tires. He worked very hard to save up $3000 cash to put down on his car, his entire savings. Eight days later, while driving, and not speeding, but just cruising around a long road corner, the car lost control very easily and completely spun out and hit a concrete barrier. He was driving carefully and did plan to get new tires within a week or so. His pelvis was shattered completely, and he suffered many horrific internal injuries. He was bleeding to death but thankfully only a short ambulance ride to the hospital ER where emergency surgery saved his life. The next day, he also had orthopedic surgery to fix his left hip, so hopefully he could walk again one day. He now has two huge metal rods/screws in his pelvis holding it together. He was in the ICU for a week and total two weeks hospital stay. He still has some terrible life-altering health problems related to the internal injuries and it will be another month or two before he might possibly be able to walk again after extensive Physical therapy rehabilitation. Medical bills thus far are in excess of $250,000, and my son had no health insurance. (He was new at his job and had not yet even have the opportunity to purchase a plan.) He lost his job and has had to come live back at home again so his mother could be his primary care taker through the healing process. He was not driving recklessly. The EMTs had to cut his best new dress suit off of him to quickly assess injuries and begin life-saving medical attention immediately. His life is forever changed. We had to completely change our home to make it wheelchair accessible. It may be legal in the state of Texas to sell a muscle car with bad tires, however, in my opinion it is not ethical and they should be ashamed of their selves for allowing this to happen. In my research, there are many automobile companies in Austin who refuse to sell cars with tires in this bad & dangerous condition, even if it is legal, because of the very possible devastating ramifications and negative outcome to their clients. This is where business owners show their actual character and integrity to their clients. Is money and quick sale & profit more important? Or is helping prevent people from losing their lives just eight days after buying a vehicle more important? In conclusion, my son is extremely lucky to be alive. He may eventually overcome & heal from most of the physical disabilities from this terrible accident. He actually worked for a car dealership, has been a car guy for a long time, and driven many more powerful muscle cars than this car he had just bought. In my opinion however, cars should not be sold that are absolutely immediately unsafe for both the driver and other innocent people on the roads. Thankfully, no one else was hurt in this awful accident except for my son. But it was an tragic accident that didn’t need to happen. It was an accident that could’ve been prevented by better business ethics on the part of our local R & D motors! On top of that, they were negligent with paperwork details & math and actually jipped my son some of the money he should’ve received back from full coverage insurance. SHAME ON YOU R & D Motors! I’m surprised you can sleep at night with those sorts of ethics. Just because something is perhaps legal does not make it right and I know this is a respected & integral local business owner myself. If my son fully and totally recovers it will be a miracle we will be grateful for. We’re very glad he’s alive, and of course none of us will ever ever buy an “as is” used vehicle again. Safety on these busy Austin roads, and all of our lives, is the most important variable in every decision. If only all automotive companies would step up their game more in this regard too!!

Easily the best experience I’ve ever had buying a used car! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and down to earth. I would definitely recommend them to my friends, and gladly buy another vehicle from them. I can’t say enough good things about Rob and his staff, if you’re in the market for a great used vehicle, do yourself a favor and stop by and check them out. Craig Davis

If someone ask me where can they go get a nice, reliable used car, I would tell them to go to R&D Motors. I bought my first car from them over 15 years ago. You see when a dealership keep you satisfied with their services, I keep going back for more. I have bought and paid off at least 4 of my cars and my cars are still performing great! I still have them. Everyone in the office are great!. Special Kuddos to Rosie. If I have any concerns or questions before purchasing my cars all of the staff is there for you. Thank you R&D Motors.

THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED!!! First off, I want to thank Rosie and Mike for the patience and honesty. We were communicating for weeks about a car they had just got from the auction, but they were having issues with the convertible top. It turns out that my patience paid off as well. Since the car that I was originally interested in was taking its time getting ready for me, they decided to offer me a deal on a car that I would have NOT been able to afford it they were NOT willing to work with me and my budget! Now I own my dream car, Mercedes CLK 550 convertible that drives like a dream. Now, anytime I have any issues I can call them and they will assist me in a quick and professional manner. These guys are a total class act, I honor and respect their honesty and loyalty to their customers. They were adamant about earning my business, and they ultimately earned it for a lifetime! I will definitely be purchasing my vehicles from R and D from now on!

Great people, great friendly service. They made it a little easier to buy a vehicle and addressed all items I brought up about the truck in a friendly and timely manner. I would definitely deal with them again
